The biggest updates in Orbit 8.0
AI integration
With AI-driven assistance for translations, angles, and email analysis, Orbit now makes work more efficient. The new version offers help with translating CVs and reference texts, analyses emails for GDPR-related data and tone, and categorises important emails, such as agreements, additional work, and errors.
Mandatory and standard columns
It is now possible to configure which columns appear as standard and which are mandatory in Orbit’s overviews. This creates a more structured and consistent experience across the organisation.
New design for profiles and CVs
The new design for CVs and profiles provides a better overview and introduces new features in both current and future versions of Orbit. Additionally, the profile overview, export basket, export packages, and export module have been enhanced.
Resource management by project
It is now possible to choose how each project is managed in terms of resources: either automatically, where plans are calculated based on task estimates and timelines, or manually. This flexibility allows for selecting the most effective approach depending on the complexity of the project.

More new features in Orbit 8.0
Export to MS Project
Orbit projects can now be exported to MS Project, making it easy and efficient to share project structures and plans with clients who only use MS Project.
Modifying CVs before export
A brand-new export engine brings a new, improved interface, better overview, and new functionalities for customising CVs prior to export.
Filtering in references
When editing a CV, it is now possible to filter reference projects based on whether they are validated, released, or selected for export. This makes it easier to manage CVs when a person has numerous reference projects associated with them.
Shared archiving status view
In Outlook, markings of whether mails are archived are now shared among everyone in the organisation, so everyone can see if a mail is already archived and where it is located. This avoids redundant archiving of mails already stored by others.
Metrics
It is now possible to add metrics to companies, which can be used to store quantitative information, such as number of employees, offices, revenue, or other variables. These metrics are timestamped, allowing you to track changes like a client’s employee count over time.
Display of calculated dates in Gantt
Calculated dates, derived from tasks and activities in the project’s substructure, are now shown in the Gantt chart. Even if a phase does not have a planned start and end date, you can see an estimated timeline in the Gantt view based on the underlying tasks and activities.
Project experience search
When editing a CV, you can now search project experience by free text, making it easier to find the project you want to e.g. add a role to.
New variation columns
In both the CV and reference overview, you can now view the number of created variations, their names, and get direct links to each variation.
Filtering on active contacts
In the CRM, you can filter contacts by whether they are linked to references and/or projects, and when these were completed. This helps clean up external contacts, such as for GDPR compliance.
Project assignment from resource plan
You can now assign projects directly from the resource plans, saving many clicks when adding team members to new projects. Instead of linking employees to projects, projects can now be assigned directly to employees in their individual resource plans.
New export basket and export packages
The export basket, including export packages, has been redesigned and now offers additional options. Settings such as inclusion and exclusion of fields, project experience, and more for selected CVs and references are now saved as part of the package. Export settings are saved even if you navigate away from the export module.
This new export framework also opens up possibilities for new functionality in future versions – so stay tuned!
Better use of high resolution for CVs
In connection with the upgrade of CVs and profiles, there has also been room to optimise the way we use space on higher resolution screens, so viewing and editing now takes place on a larger part of the screen.
Automatic calendar creation
Tasks or activities in project planning can now be marked for automatic addition to assigned persons’ Outlook calendars. The task or activity’s deadline determines when it appears in the calendar, designed for those who may have fewer tasks in the project planning system.
Opportunities for partners
In version 7.2 we introduced competitors in the CRM, and now it is also possible to manage business partners in Orbit. This makes it possible to create and manage e.g. advance agreements directly in the CRM and keep track of who a sales activity is being developed with.
New improved split of CVs and profiles
CVs have always also functioned as user profiles. This is now split into two so that you do not have to deal with all the master data every time you need to edit a CV. The data that is typically fairly static is placed on the profile, while the more CV-related information such as descriptions, project experiences etc. is still placed on the CV. This provides a better overview and a much faster workflow when editing CVs.
