Leveraging an annual growth rate of 15-20 percent, Danish software developer Orbit Online is now increasing its focus on web-based knowledge-sharing and systems for file and document management.

René Dalsgaard Larsen, CEO of Orbit Online A/S:
We’re noticing increasing demand for a new generation of knowledge-sharing systems with a strong focus on user-friendliness, the integration of business processes and high speed. People come to us because the IT tools they currently use are too slow and complicated, often with insufficient integration between the different systems used in their organization. And in general, people find it hard to understand why the IT tools they use at work are so difficult to use –compared, for example, to Facebook, Wikipedia or Google.

Orbit is addressing this challenge as one of the front runners, both nationally and internationally, in the area of enterprise knowledge-sharing: a new generation of enterprise solutions with a strong focus on user-friendliness, integration of work processes and social technologies.

René Dalsgaard Larsen:
It’s all about enabling people to work as efficiently as possible. We’re creating coherency and clarity by integrating the processes and resources that people need to work smarter.

Our answer to this challenge is called Orbit. The Orbit platform offers a range of modules that can be combined and customized to meet your needs, such as project management, intranet, wiki, document management, references and CV and skills management. Moreover, Orbit focuses on internal communication based on technologies from the social media like Twitter and Facebook. Orbit can also exchange data with ERP systems like Navision, Maconomy and SAP.

Using Orbit, people are able to combine work tasks that are normally located in separate systems. This means they can save time and reduce the risk of error, as the data only needs to be fed into the system once to be automatically made accessible to all employees.
We want to develop the most effective tools. It seems to us that companies are growing increasingly aware of the fact that their internal IT tools should support the work processes and needs of their employees to the greatest extent possible. That’s why we’re focusing on Orbit and targeting new customers, both in Denmark and abroad. Our goal is to expand the international share of our turnover from 30 to 50 percent over the next three years.

Orbit is tailor-made for knowledge-intensive companies, typically working across international borders, with many users distributed at different locations and with a strong need to integrate different IT systems. Our clients include a wide range of consulting and engineering companies such as Valcon, Orbicon, Arkitema and MOE, along with energy giant Shell.
